Experience Hands-On Learning at Duluth’s STEAM Night

DULUTH, Ga. — Residents in Gwinnett County are invited to experience a unique blend of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics during an upcoming STEAM Night event set to take place at Duluth Town Green on Thursday, April 23.

The event, which begins at 5:00 p.m., will feature the Duluth Cluster Band Concert alongside interactive learning experiences designed to engage students and families in hands-on educational activities. Organizers say the evening aims to transform downtown Duluth into a vibrant hub of innovation, creativity, and live entertainment.

STEAM Night will kick off with an interactive showcase where attendees can explore project-based learning displays presented by local students. The showcase will be held on the Activity Lawn and will include a variety of exhibits demonstrating creativity, problem-solving, and applied knowledge across multiple disciplines.

In addition to student-led projects, families can participate in hands-on experiment stations facilitated by community partners, including STEAM-focused organizations. A petting zoo and other family-friendly attractions will also be available, creating an engaging environment for attendees of all ages.

The event’s highlight will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m., when the Duluth High School Wind Symphony joins forces with 8th-grade musicians from Coleman Middle School and Duluth Middle School for a collaborative band performance. The concert is expected to deliver a dynamic musical experience, showcasing the talent and dedication of young performers across the Duluth cluster.

According to event organizers, the performance will be led by a team of experienced directors, including Ms. Meeka Sivilay, Mr. Michael Ball, Ms. Josey Jimenez, Dr. Kevin Schoeller, and Mr. Ryan Bertram. The collaboration reflects a strong commitment to arts education and highlights the importance of music programs within local schools.

By combining science and music in a public setting, STEAM Night aims to inspire curiosity, encourage creativity, and foster a deeper appreciation for both academic and artistic pursuits.

Community members are encouraged to attend and support the students who have dedicated time and effort to preparing their projects and performances. The event also provides an opportunity for families to learn more about the educational programs available within the Duluth cluster and how they contribute to student development.

With its mix of interactive exhibits, live performances, and community engagement, STEAM Night is expected to draw a large crowd and serve as a highlight event for the Duluth area this spring.
