For Immediate Release
On the morning of February 11, 2026, deputies with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a potential bank robbery actively taking place in the City of Newnan. The rapid response team of deputies, already patrolling the area, sprang into action as they were tasked with locating the suspect vehicle.
Within moments, deputies spotted the vehicle matching the description provided in the call and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. However, the driver of the suspect vehicle failed to comply, resulting in a high-speed pursuit through the busy streets of Newnan.

During the chase, the suspect lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and erratic maneuvers, ultimately crashing near the busy intersection of Newnan Crossing Bypass and Bullsboro Drive. The impact led to the suspect exiting the vehicle in a hurried attempt to escape on foot.

In a coordinated effort to apprehend the fleeing suspect, a Coweta County Sheriff’s Office K9 handler deployed his police dog, K9 Robbi. As they pursued the suspect, a dramatic turn of events occurred when K9 Robbi was struck by a passing vehicle. Nevertheless, displaying remarkable courage and determination, Robbi persevered despite the injury, continuing the pursuit alongside his handler.
Thanks to the steadfast efforts of K9 Robbi, the deputies were able to successfully apprehend the suspect shortly after the incident. Following the apprehension, K9 Robbi was promptly transported to Sweetwater Veterinary Hospital for evaluation. Veterinarians assessed him and determined that he had sustained only minor abrasions with no signs of internal injuries. Fortunately, Robbi is expected to make a full recovery and return to duty soon.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office would like to express its sincere gratitude for the unwavering support of the Newnan Police Department, highlighting the strength and effectiveness of their collaborative efforts in safeguarding the community.
