Commissioner Nail to Speak at APPA 2026: Leadership Insights

The Georgia Department of Community Supervision (DCS) announced that Commissioner Michael W. Nail will serve as the Monday Plenary Speaker at the American Probation and Parole Association’s (APPA) 2026 Winter Training Institute, taking place in Atlanta.

Commissioner Nail’s plenary session, titled “Can I Get Some Situational Sauce with Those Leadership Nuggets?”, will focus on practical and memorable leadership principles designed to strengthen decision-making, communication, and team performance across correctional and community supervision environments.

According to DCS, the session will break down what Commissioner Nail describes as “leadership nuggets” actionable strategies that attendees can apply immediately, regardless of their role or level of experience.

The APPA Winter Training Institute brings together probation, parole, and community supervision professionals from across the country for several days of training, networking, and professional development.

Commissioner Nail’s presentation is scheduled for:

DCS officials noted that Commissioner Nail’s selection as a plenary speaker reflects Georgia’s growing national presence in criminal justice leadership, innovation, and reform.
