Attorney General Pam Bondi faced sharp criticism during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday as lawmakers questioned the Justice Department’s handling of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
The hearing followed the release of millions of pages of Epstein-related records, which officials say were made public under recent transparency requirements. While the Justice Department has described the release as part of an effort to increase accountability, members of Congress from both parties raised concerns about how the files were presented.
Democratic lawmakers, including Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Jasmine Crockett, accused the department of excessive redactions and a lack of meaningful legal action tied to the materials. They argued that survivors and the public deserve clearer answers, especially given the continued national attention surrounding Epstein’s crimes and network.

Republicans largely defended Bondi’s approach, pointing to prior Justice Department actions and describing the release as a step toward openness. However, criticism also came from within the Republican Party. Rep. Thomas Massie questioned the quality of the redaction process and expressed frustration over delays and inconsistencies.
The hearing became tense at several moments, with emotional testimony and pointed exchanges between lawmakers. Despite the release of the files, no new indictments have been announced, leaving ongoing questions about what accountability may still come.
The Justice Department has not indicated whether additional prosecutions or further releases of documents are expected.
Gwinnett News Report will continue following national developments that impact public trust, justice, and transparency.
